Bioreactor Retrofits bring native-state processing to bioreactors that are already installed: jacketed vessels, retrofit skids, in-line structural sensors and guardrail control loops. Instructional Biology licenses them to contract manufacturers and equipment vendors.
Where It Stands
Bioreactor Retrofits is at Development, the second of the seven stages on Our Pipeline: Discovery, Development, Testing, Prototype, Ready for Demo, IND (if required) and Sales.
What a Retrofit Changes
Legacy biomanufacturing optimized hard for one variable, pathogen safety, with tools such as high-heat sterilization that are excellent at that job and indifferent to structural preservation. MHFBP takes a different approach: lower, carefully regulated temperatures protect structure, and non-thermal methods handle pathogen safety. A retrofit skid is the modular form that approach takes, built onto equipment a manufacturer already owns.
The trade-off is throughput: lower-temperature, structure-preserving processing is slower than high-heat sterilization. We make that trade deliberately, because a faster process that yields structurally silent material does not solve the problem biomanufacturing exists to solve. The Latest Innovations in Biomanufacturing sets out the case.
How It Is Governed
ASAP, our discovery engine, is the operating system behind the retrofit bioreactor skids. Every safety stop runs in hardware on its own, so if ASAP ever goes silent, the process stops safely. Retrofits work alongside the Thermodynamic Cold-Stop, our heat-free process arrest.
The Segment That Protects It
Bioreactor Retrofits are protected by the Bioreactor Skids segment of our IP portfolio. For licensing conversations, see Partnerships and Licensing.
The Market Behind Its Segment
Each segment of our IP portfolio addresses a market that independent research firms already measure. The table gives that market's latest published size, its forecast and its compound annual growth rate (CAGR), from the same sources as Ten Revenue Streams.
| Market and segment | Size | Forecast | CAGR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bioreactors [1] Bioreactor Skids | USD 13.8 bn (2025) | USD 38.9 bn by 2035 | 11.2% |
