Where It Stands

Cosmeceuticals is at Development, the second of the seven stages on Our Pipeline: Discovery, Development, Testing, Prototype, Ready for Demo, IND (if required) and Sales.

What the Word Means

Cosmeceutical is an industry word, not a legal category. The cosmetic industry uses it for cosmetic products with medicinal or drug-like benefits, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration states that the term "has no meaning under the law" [1]. Under U.S. law a product can be a drug, a cosmetic, or both; a product claimed to treat or prevent disease, or to affect the structure or function of the body, is regulated as a drug [1]. Our cosmeceuticals make cosmetic claims only.

The Segments That Protect It

Cosmeceuticals are protected by the same three segments as our OTC Products: OTC Products, which covers the products themselves; Composition of Matter, which covers what they are made of; and Provenance and Release, which covers where each lot's material comes from and how each lot is certified before it is released.

The Markets Behind Its Segments

Each segment of our IP portfolio addresses a market that independent research firms already measure. The table gives each market's latest published size, its forecast and its compound annual growth rate (CAGR), from the same sources as Ten Revenue Streams.
